SouthCoast Wind Awarded 1,287 MW by MA & RISouthCoast Wind is ready to deliver clean energy to New England
A Partner for the South Coast
Last year Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut announced New England’s first offshore wind multi-state memorandum of understanding, which created a pathway for a coordinated selection of offshore wind energy. After a rigorous selection process, SouthCoast Wind has been selected to provide 1,087 MW of offshore wind power to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and 200 MW to the State of Rhode Island.
SouthCoast Wind will now begin the next steps of negotiating contracts with Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Project construction will commence once it has received all federal, state and local permits, which is expected in late 2025.

SouthCoast Wind 1 Project Commitment
In developing its bid, the SouthCoast Wind team gathered insights, priorities, and concerns from local and regional community leaders and citizens throughout the South Coast region resulting in $93 million in community and partner commitments.
Supply Chain Development
SouthCoast Wind will require its Tier 1 Suppliers to build relationships with local and regional businesses.
Workforce Development
SouthCoast Wind will invest in programs that foster pathways for local and diverse talent to work in the offshore wind industry.
Environmental Justice and Indigenous Communities
SouthCoast Wind will deploy unrestricted resources to support environmental justice and indigenous communities’ priorities, projects, and needs.
Ratepayer Support
SouthCoast Wind will make investments in organizations that assist ratepayers directly, with a focus on those that provide programs for a broad group of income-eligible individuals and families, and which reduce energy consumption and costs through the adoption of energy efficient systems.
Port Investments
SouthCoast Wind plans to marshal its turbines at the New Bedford (MA) Marine Commerce Terminal, with its operations and maintenance port at Foss Marine Terminal in New Bedford, MA and open a crew transfer and administrative hub in Rhode Island.
